res SEED NETWORK

Why a seed network?

During the Garden Forum in October 2020, gardeners of communal gardens as well as private ones came together to start a luxembourgish citizen seed network. The idea is to create a seed production along and with the help of artisanal seed producers, who work a lot at the moment due to an increase in the demand from the bigger public and professional gardeners. This group is currently technically accompanied by Frank Adams who is part of the SEED asbl.

OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONING

LEARNING, MULTIPLICATION OF SEEDS, EXCHANGE, SUPPORT TO SEED PRODUCERS

The network organises 3 yearly activities.

Each garden has a referent per crop to assure a weekly follow-up.

Mutual help between gardens for specific works. The people without garden can help the ones that have one.

The varieties and chosen species could be the ones of either SEED asbl, Steve Schwarz (local seed producer) or other artisanal producers.

The members of the network meet up at least once a year at the occasion of the garden forum.

The seed distribution takes place during events like the plant exchange, garden forum, etc.
